Tofu Masaledar



Ingredients:

Firm Tofu - 500 gms
Onions - 2
Tomatoes - 2
Bay Leaf - 1
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 2 tsps
Kasoori Methi - 1 1/2 tbsps
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 1/2 tsps
Fresh Cream - 2 tbsps
Vegetable Oil - 2 tbsps
Salt to taste

For Gravy:

Beetroot, grated - 1/2 cup
Carrot, grated - 1/2 cup
Cabbage, shredded - 1/2 cup

For Garnishing:

Coriander Leaves


Method:

  1. Chop onions and tomatoes.
  2. Cut tofu into small triangles.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds.
  5. When cumin seeds start crackling, add chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste. Saute until onion turns translucent.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt. Saute well.
  7. Meanwhile, blend together beetroot, carrot and cabbage into a smooth puree. Keep aside.
  8. When tomatoes turn soft and mushy, add blended vegetable puree. Cook until it thickens.
  9. Add tofu and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Now add fresh cream, cook for a minute.
  11. Sprinkle kasoori methi. Mix well.
  12. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  13. Serve hot with phulkas, rotis, etc.,
